Younger Legs! We help you
have Younger Legs! Legs that look and feel younger!' 'State of the Art'
Treatments of Leg Veins Effective, Safe, and Painless
|
In our office, we are proud offer the most up-to-date vein investigations: We
focus exclusively on the treatment of vein disease of the legs. Our expert
ultrasonographer is in our office full time , is certified and has long
experience in all vascular issues.
The detailed complete exam for
venous insufficiency (failed valves and dilated vessels), is a specialized exam
not usually well performed in labs that focus on arterial cases and simple 'rule
out a clot' exams.
Our exam carefully exams for valve failure and vein
dilation in each the five vein systems that drain the surface of each leg. We
also screen the deep system for clots and valvular issues. This is a detailed
exam that is best performed upright and requires about an hour. Problems of the
veins are identified and quantified, and several dozen ultrasound images are
saved on a CD/DVD for any future review.
Our 'state of the art' equipment includes a very high-definition
ultrasound and a unique apparatus (not generally found in office labs that do
not specialize in vein exams), an automatic inflation-rapid deflation pneumatic
device, standarizes and improves the exam.
Investigations:
Duplex Venous Doppler Examination of the Legs
- Evaluation for failure of vein valves and quantification of 'reflux'
- Measurement of vein dilation
- Assessment of venous anatomy
- Evaluation for deep vein valve problems and thrombosis
Ankle
Brachial Index (ABI) with Anterior and Posterior Tibial Waveforms
- This is an screening evaluation of the arterial circulation in the legs
used to investigate for PAD.
| How we investigate
vein problems in our office:
Ultrasound Evaluation After a history and focused
exam, we perform a detailed ultrasound exam (about one hour required).
We
first check for deep clots and screen the arteries.
We then carefully
examine the five veins draining the surface of each leg. This exam measures the
diameters of these veins and tests the valves. Any backward flow from failed
valves is discovered and measured.
The results are very clear: valve
problems, backward flow and dilated veins are either there, or they are not.
Our ultrasonographer saves dozens of digital images of the inside of your legs
for any future review by your doctor, Medicare, or insurer.
After this
exam, Dr. Mountcastle will schedule an appointment with you to discuss the
ultrasound findings, review your medical history and physical, and discuss any
treatments advised.
